Sixty public officers nabbed for soliciting bribes last year

About 60 public officials who had solicited bribes from the public were nabbed by officials of the Bribery Commission last year.

Among the suspects were school heads, police officers, wildlife conservation officers, Grama Niladharies and a few officials from the Motor Traffic Department.

About 560 investigation officers have been deployed to nab errant public servants who solicit bribes from the public, SSP and Investigation Director of the Bribery Commission Padmini Weerasooriya said.
