Spin wizard Nimnaka superstar of St. Anthony’s

Spin wizard Nimnaka Jayathilake has been the superstar of St. Anthony’s College, Cricket Team for the past three years. He has contributed immensely with the ball for the success of St. Anthony’s Cricket Team for the past couple of years by leading the set of spin wizards.

In addition to all his five-wicket and 10-wicket hauls, he has rewritten the history of College Cricket with some groundbreaking records as well.

Breaking the record for the highest number of wickets in a single schools cricket season is the main highlight.

Nimnaka started his school cricket career at Sri Chandananda Buddhist School, Kandy in the Under-13 Division Three Tournament in 2014. He captured more than 60 wickets in that season. He represented the school Under-13 Cricket Team and he captured 46 wickets in 2015.

He joined St. Anthony’s in 2016 and played for the Under-15 Cricket Team in the same year. He was Vice-Captain of the Under-15 Team in 2017.

He represented the Kandy District and Central Province Under-15 Cricket Teams in 2017 for the Prima Champions Trophy Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.

He represented the school Under-17 Cricket Teams in the seasons of 2018 and 2019 and captured 128 wickets with six 10-wicket hauls in 18 matches. Nimnaka also helped St. Anthony’s emerge runners-up in the Division Two Tournament. He represented the College First Eleven Cricket Team in two Big Matches in 2018 and 2019.

He qualified for the final 50 of the Sri Lanka Under-19 Cricket Squad in 2019 and played in the Under-19 Super Provincial Cricket Tournament in 2019.

He represented the College First Eleven Cricket Team as a third year coloursman in 2019/20 and captured 84 wickets in 14 matches in the Division One Tournament.

In 2017/18 he took 96 wickets in 18 games, 128 wickets in 2018/19 season in 18 matches and 84 wickets in the 2019/20 season in 15 games.
