Justice Minister presents appointment letters to new National Unity and Reconciliation Bureau officials

The newly-appointed officials of the National Unity and Reconciliation Bureau received their appointment letters from Justice Minister Ali Sabry, PC, yesterday. The bureau will be headed by President’s Counsel Kushan de Alwis, while its Director General will be Sunil Kannangara, a former District Secretary.

The other members are Prof. A.L.S. Mendis, Prof. Rizvi Hassen, Prof. M.M.A.D.S.J. Niriella, President’s Counsel Samantha Ratwatte, Attorney-at-Law Janaka Ranatunga, Attorney-at-Law Suganthi Kadirgamar, Mano Sekaram, Attorney-at-Law Gayanthi Dissanayake, Apsal Marikkar, and Senthil Thondaman. Attorney-at-Law Thushari Sooriyarachchi is the Additional Director-General.

Minister Ali Sabry, PC, speaking on the occasion, said national unity and reconciliation was a timely need. The new bureau would be in the forefront of this mission, he said. It will begin work soon at its new office at Rajagiriya.
