Debarawewa Sports Club annihilated Sooriyawewa Sports Club by nine wickets with ten overs to spare while Hambantota Cricket Club thrashed Middeniya Cricket Club by 110 runs as the Independence Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament conducted by the Hambantota District

Cricket Association got underway yesterday (4th).

14 teams drawn in four groups are taking part in the tournament. In the other matches played yesterday Lunugamwehera Sports Club, Hungama Cricket Club, Kiula Cricket Club and Baragama Sports Club registered wins.

GROUP A

Central Sports Club, Lunugamwehera Sports Club, Beliatta Cricket Club, Hungama Cricket Club.

GROUP B

Kiula Cricket Club, Tissa Cricket Club, Therapuththian Cricket Club , Baragama Sports Club.

GROUP C

Sooriyawewa Sports Club, Debarawewa Sports Club , Mayurapura Sports Club.

GROUP D

Hambantota Cricket Club , Middeniya Cricket Club, Tangalla Cricket Club. The league stage of the tournament will be played at three venues over the next two weekends.

Morning - An all round performance by Rumesh Buddika helped Lunugamwehera Sports Club beat Central Sports Club by 10 runs in thyeir group A encounter.
