Former Nochchiyagama OIC acquitted from corruption case

The Colombo High Court has ordered to acquit and release Nochchiyagama Police former OIC from a corruption case filed by Bribery Commission.

High Court Judge Shashi Mahendran had ordered to acquit and release former OIC Gamini Amarasinghe Senadhipathi from the corruption case following a lengthy trial, which has been heard since 2014.

Senior Counsel Nimal Weerakkody with Counsels Chathuranga Muthunayake, Aruna Pathiranaarachchi and Inoka Weerakkody de Zoysa appeared for the defence.

Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption's Deputy Director General (Legal) Ruwini Wickremasinghe appeared for the prosecution.
