Sheron of Sri Devananda a fine all-round display

Sheron Hindiumage right hand batsman and right arm off-spinner gave a fine all-round performance in the last season of Under 19 Division Two inter schools Cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

Sheron scored more than 700 runs with two centuries and two half centuries and claimed 32 wickets in the under 19 season of 2019/20.

Hinidumage Sheron Shehan was born on17th May of 2001 at Galle. He was admitted to Sri Devananda College, Ambalangoda in 2006. Sheron started his cricket career at Sri Devananda College, Ambalangoda under the guidance of K. Suraj Sanjeewa, his first coach, old Nalandian and school teacher and Rathnasiri Batuwangala, master in charge in 2011.

Sheron represented under 13 team B in the same year. He was promted to under 13 team A from 2012. He played under 13 division one tournament in three seasons. He scored more than 600 runs and claimed more than 35 wickets in three under 13 seasons 2012, 2013 and 2014.

He scored more than 350 runs with three fifties and claimed more than 20 wickets in under 15 inter school two seasons in 2015 and 2016. . He scored 431 runs with a century aand three fifties in under 17 cricket season of 2018. His best batting performance was 138 runs against Devapathiraja College Rathgama.

He passed O/L exam with 1A, 6C’s and 2S’s. He sat A/L in the Commerce stream in 2020. Sheron represented the college first XI team under coach P. Milton and master in charge Rohana Chandrakantha De Silva in two seasons 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. He scored 569 runs with two half centuries and claimed 31 wickets in the under 19 season of 2018/2019.

Sheron was deputy skipper in the last under 19 schools cricket season. He scored 741 runs with two centuries and two half centuries. He made centuries against Vidyartha College Kandy (114) and Kingswood College Kandy (121). He claimed 32 wickets with a five wicket haul. Sheron scored more than 1300 runs and claimed more than 60 wickets in the two seasons.
