“Cargills: Village to Home” an initiative by Cargills Food City, created with the intention of strengthening the country’s SME entrepreneurs by offering them a platform to engage with a wider network of customers, recommenced at Rawathawatta with all the necessary health and safety guidelines.

Previously held at Kandana, Pelawatte and Malabe these events were well received by the general public.

However, with the resurgence of the pandemic in the country last October, this initiative had to be put on hold. This initiative commenced at Food City Rawathawatta and as done previously, several local entrepreneurs as partners to promote their diverse range of products in demarcated stalls were invited. Featuring a host of local boutique shops ranging from handloom and handicraft products to ayurvedic cosmetics, a variety of snacks was also on offer.

“The thinking behind this initiative was to broaden the reach of our local SMEs by giving them a marketplace. We also look to further improve their livelihoods by sharing our expertise in packaging, marketing and quality assurance,” an official from Cargills said.

Cargills Bank will continue to provide financial support to SME entrepreneurs, helping them to grow and serve a larger market. Moving forward, we will continue to host Cargills: “Village to Home” at selected Food City outlets.’
