SL sees spike in leprosy cases

The country has seen a spike in leprosy patient numbers in the recent past, National Leprosy Control Campaign Director Dr. Kapila Piyasena told the media recently.

He added that the majority of the cases were reported from the Kurunegala District during the past month, and that most of them were children.

About 20 percent of total number of leprosy patients reported in the country last year were from the Western Province, Piyasena said.
