Govt fearlessly facing Geneva challenge - Keheliya

Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that it is ridiculous for those who gathered at Temple Trees twice a week to discuss the imprisonment of Rajapaksa family members during the former Government’s tenure, to talk about the independence of the Judiciary today. The Media Minister made these observations speaking at a ceremony held to mark the fourth anniversary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna at the Rambaken Reception Hall at Menikhinna, Kundasale under the theme of ‘Siw Desa Sureki Siw Wasa’ (the four years that protected the four corners of the country).

Minister Rambukwella said that the present Government had to pay for the heinous betrayals of the previous Government and they are ready to face all those challenges without fear.

He said that the Human Rights Commissioner had made allegations to the country based on the betrayal of the then Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and that we would not accept them. He emphasized that the Government was successfully facing all these problems with the strength given to the government by the people of this country.

The Minister said that the Podujana Peramuna had carried out a political revolution in this country in a short period of four years. He added that the same path was not paved on a bed of roses. He added most of them had to make statements to the FCID without any reason. He added that they could go around with a smile as they had not done any crime.
