Cabinet approval for providing lands to set up industries

The Cabinet has approved allocating land from regional Trade Zones (TZ) to set up industries, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.

He was speaking at the Cabinet Media Briefing yesterday at the Government Information Department.

Minister Rambukwella said that the Project Evaluation Committee of the Regional Industrial Services Committees and Industries Ministry has recommended allocating land from the eight Industrial Zones on a 35-year lease for 22 investors under the Regional Industrial Zones Development Programme of the Industries Ministry.

Rs. 24,047.85 million - US$ three million – will be invested in the projects. It has been estimated that the projects will generate 3,326 direct jobs.

The Cabinet has, therefore, approved the resolution by the Industries Ministry in this regard.
