The Korea Programme on International Agriculture (KOPIA) distributed agricultural implements in Anuradhapura yesterday.

KOPIA Sri Lanka Director Choi In Hu said that farmers can use these implements to cultivate soya, kidney beans, and lentils. Farmer organisations including the Hidogama Ela Mahasen Farmers’ Association and the Arunoda Farmers’ Association in Anuradhapura organised the event.

“We encourage the farmers in growing big onions, chili, soybeans, and green peas among others. They will be provided with a training on how to use modern technologies for soybean production, machinery for sowing and drying seeds,” he said.

The Koren Organisation will partner with the Agriculture Department to provide seeds and facilities for harvesting. He added that the organisation has trained 300 farmers and 280 more will be trained in the coming months.
