PM opens Rs.420 mn Anamaduwa Technical College building complex

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday declared open the Anamaduwa Technical College and the new building complex built at a cost of Rs.420 million. The new Technical College is located in the suburbs of Anamaduwa. It has been constructed under the guidance and intervention of the State Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovation with the aim of creating a skilled workforce through technical education and vocational training to achieve the vision of building a prosperous country.

Although the technical college was started in 1993 courses were started in 1996 when Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training.

Due to its location outside the city and the limited space available at the Technical College, it was built on a new site with full Government funding.

With the construction of the new building complex, around 600 students from the Puttalam District will be afforded the opportunity to follow a number of technical courses annually.
