Heroin, ICE worth Rs.100 mn found from Nugegoda

A 29-year old suspect was arrested by the Organized Crime Prevention Division (OCPD) at a guest house in Nugegoda yesterday afternoon along with a haul of heroin and Ice narcotic pills with an estimated value of Rs.100 million.

Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana told the media that the Colombo Organised Crimes Division had carried out a special anti-narcotics operation in Gangodawila area yesterday around 1.30 pm and searched a guest house in the Gamsabha junction in Nugegoda.

 “The officers had recovered 5 Kg of heroin and 5 Kg of ICE. The 29-year-old manager of the guest house was taken into custody by the officers and the productions were also taken into the custody of the Crimes Division.”

The Police Spokesman said that the suspect will be produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate today (17) and the CCD intends to obtain a detention order for seven days in terms of the provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance for further interrogation. Further investigations are underway.
