Govt. Analyst’s Department able to meet targets - Justice Minister

On an invitation extended by the Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of National Security, Home Affairs and Disaster Management Chamal Rajapaksa, Justice Minister Ali Sabry,PC went on an inspection tour of the Courts Complexes in the Hambantota District to determine their standards and requirements. Accordingly, he visited the Tissamaharamaya, Hambantota and Tangalle Courts Complexes.

During the visit the Minister of Justice noted that the Government Analyst’s Department had increased its capacity and increased the number of employees by January 2021, showing a progress of 104% during the month.

“In January this year it was planned to conduct 4,828 tests for the Government Analyst’s Department, but, 5,060 tests had been completed,” Minister Sabry said, adding that the department will be brought to a standard where reports would be completed within at least one month.

On the directives of the Justice Minister, the Government Analysts Department had been able to meet its targets as the employees had agreed to work after hours until 7 p.m. free of charge and an additional shift was deployed on some days up to 10 p.m. As a result the department was able to reach its targeted goal.
