A survey team led by Kandy Chief Surveyor S.N. Edirisinghe conducted a mock land survey assessment using drones recently under the direction of Central Province Chief Land Commissioner Jagath Adikari.
The assessment is aimed at resolving land disputes in the province speedily, the Chief Land Commissioner said. He added that it would also help surveyors measure lands faster, and with better accuracy.
Adikari said that no funds have been obtained for drone survey projects yet as procedures are still in the experimental stages. However, it could be implemented throughout the island if the results are promising, he added.
