People’s aspirations being realised – Johnston

Highways Minister Johnston Fernando said the system change desired by the people during the previous Presidential election is now being carried out successfully by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

He is one of the most successful administrators in Sri Lanka.

It is visible from his actions and reactions. Under the “Gama Samaga Pilisandarak ‘’ programme, the President directly goes to villages, listens to the grievances of the people and provides solutions for them during the programme itself. That is what the people of this country expected and the President is governing the country in accordance with the wishes of the people,” he added.

He was speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate the construction work on the Mahakitula and Mahakirula reservoirs of the North Western Province Maha Ela project at Kongaha junction, Irudeniyaya, Yapahuwa. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa unveiled a plaque marking the commencement of the construction of this massive irrigation project which will supply water to the Wayamba Province on Tuesday.

The Minister further said that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who recently visited Irudeniyaya village promised the villagers that the Wayamba Ela project would be commenced with immediate effect to solve the water problem of the people. Now it has become a reality. That is why the people of this country have placed their confidence in the Rajapaksa family. The Rajapaksa family never deceived the people and always fulfilled pledges given to the people,” he added.

The Opposition is spreading various rumours to scuttle the Government’s development programme. Now the Opposition members are acting in a deranged manner as they have totally failed in attacking the Government,” he added.
