Go peachy!

The phrase ‘peaches and cream’ complexion may have been inspired by how gorgeous the pink, juicy fruit looks. However, there may be more value to the analogy than what meets the eye. The lush, delicious peach can also ensure that you look like a million bucks by just feasting on it regularly. For people looking for a tasty and convenient way to eat their way to beautiful, glowing skin - peaches are the answer. Here’s a glimpse into the ways in which this fruit gives you that enviable flush you’ve always yearned for.

Nutritional ingredients

One raw medium peach (147 grams) has 50 calories, 0.5 grams of fat, 0 grams of cholesterol and sodium, 15 grams of carbohydrate, 13 grams of sugar, 2 grams of fiber and 1 gram of protein. It provides 6 percent of your daily vitamin A needs and 15 percent of daily vitamin C needs.

Maintaining your beauty

A great source of Vitamin C, peach helps to remove dark circles and blemishes. Its macronutrients also help in removing wrinkles and hence, peach is a common ingredient in anti-ageing face masks. It tightens the skin’s pores and does wonders for a tired skin.

  •  It is often a part of anti-aging cosmetics because of its ability to tighten the skin and reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
  •  Peach also benefits your skin by fading dark spots, acne marks, blemishes and other skin imperfections.
  •  It can help you recover and replenish your skin after sun exposure.
  •  Peach skincare products make your skin vibrant and glowing. They can help you improve your complexion and get that clear, youthful, dewy looking skin.

Health benefits

- Peaches are good for digestion

One medium peach provides nearly 10 percent of the daily minimum fiber target. In addition to preventing constipation and supporting good digestive health

- They can boost your immune system

Peaches support immunity in three ways. One medium peach supplies over 15% of the daily goal for vitamin C. Several types of immune cells need this nutrient for their production, function, and protection. The vitamin A in peaches (one medium fruit provides 10 percent of your daily need) helps form the mucous membranes in your respiratory tract. Stronger membranes form better protective barriers to keep germs out of your bloodstream. Peaches also defend immunity by way of their natural antimicrobial properties.

- They perk up your skin

In addition to their anti-inflammatory antioxidants, peaches have beta carotene and vitamin C to support healthy skin. Beta carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, helps protect skin from sun damage, warms skin tone, and helps create a natural glow. Vitamin C is needed to build collagen, improve skin elasticity, and fend off sagging

- They are helpful for blood pressure control and de-bloating

The potassium in a peach (one medium fruit supplies eight percent of the daily recommended goal) helps regulate blood pressure by acting as a natural diuretic to sweep excess sodium and fluid out of the body. This relieves pressure on the heart and arteries, and helps with de-bloat.

Selecting peaches as a part of a beauty treatment

While a fragrant peach is always a good sign, it’s not the main indicator of whether or not it will be good- colour is. Peaches should have vibrant tones and colours.

Beauty treatments that include peaches

Mostly skin treatments but they can be used on the hair and body as well.

Side effects

Peaches are generally safe on the skin as they are even used on sensitive skin. However, as I always say with any new product or treatment it is always best to carry out a skin patch test before hand.

Growing peaches for beauty treatments

It is best to source them from an organic shop as peach trees need a colder climate to grow.
