Eight towns will be built in Homagama – Minister Bandula

Eight new towns will be built in Homagama under the guidance of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Urban Development and Housing Minister, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena said.

The project, which is being implemented under the “Vision of Prosperity” policy statement, is called “Future Development Projects in Mahenawatta of Homagama”.

The Minister said that the Meegoda Wholesale Exchange Centre, Godagama Agricultural Granary, Diyagama Sports City, Homagama Knowledge Focused City, Barawa Biodiversity Eco City, Homagama Large Room Supermarket, a Garment City in the Godagama-Ingiriya Zone and an Export City in Kahathuduwa will be set up under the project.

Minister Bandula Gunawardena was participating in a discussion at the Urban Development and Housing Ministry, Battaramulla recently.

Another project wil be implemented around Colombo and two other projects outside the Colombo.

“The two projects will be implemented in Anuradhapura and Mihintale. A large scale city providing various services is being constructed in Anuradhapura. A large warehouse complex will be built in Mihintale. The warehouse complex will cover several provinces including the North Central Province, the Northern Province and the Eastern Province. The main objective of the project is to establish a large scale market in the region,” the Minister said.
