PM pays homage to Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (19) visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic and to receive blessings.

The Prime Minister who arrived at the Sri Dalada Maligawa was received by Diyawadana Nilame, Pradeep Nilanga Dela. The Prime Minister then worshiped the Sacred Tooth Relic and received blessings.

After paying homage to the Tooth Relic, the Prime Minister visited the Mahanayake of the Malwathu Chapter Most Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera to receive his blessings.

Prime Minister Rajapaksa also visited the Anunayake Dimbulkumbure Sri Saranankara Wimaladhamma Thera of the Malwatte Chapter and the Anunayake Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera of the Malwatta Chapter as well. Afterwards, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya and received blessings from the Mahanayake Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Dhamma Siddhi Sri Pagnananda Gnanarathana Abhidhana Thera.

The Chief Incumbent of the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya Committee Member Badulu Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya Dr. Muruddeniye Dhammarathana Thera was also present.

The Prime Minister also visited the Asgiriya Gedige Rajamaha Viharaya and received blessings from the Anu Nayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Venerable Upali Thera.Venerable Dr. Godagama Mangala Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Rangiri Dambulla Rajamaha Viharaya, Committee Member of the Asgiriya Sangha Sabha was also present on this occasion. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also visited the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya Pirivena and received blessings from the Chief Incumbent of the Asgiriya Maha Pirivena in Kandy, the Deputy Registrar of the Asgiriya Chapter, the Chief Incumbent, Narampanawe Ananda Nayaka Thera. The Prime Minister then proceeded to the Getambe Rajopavanaramaya in Peradeniya where he received the blessings of the Chief Incumbent, a Senior Committee Member of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya Ven. Keppitiyagoda Sirivimala Nayaka Thera. State Minister Dilum Amunugama, Central Province Governor Lalith Gamage, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela, Basnayake Nilame of the Vishnu Devalaya in Kandy Mahen Ratwatte and other public representatives were present at the religious observances.
