Police sets ‘1997’ on wider scope

The Police said the hotline ‘1997’, which was set up to receive information on illegal activities causing environmental damage, could also be used to provide confidential information on any other illegal activities.

The Police Media Division said that the Police Intelligence Division Special Bureau operates the hotline.

The public is requested to forward confidential information on poisonous drugs, activities threatening national security or law and order, large scale corruption, organised gangs and their criminal activities to the hotline. The hotline will also continue to receive complaints on illegal felling of trees, illegal sand or soil mining, deforestation and illegal land reclamation.
