COVID infects 543 persons in last 24 hours

The country has reported 543 COVID cases during the last 24 hours increasing the number to 79,479, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.

Fifteen repatriated Sri Lankans tested COVID positive on Saturday while 180 cases have been detected from the Colombo District, 116 from the Gampaha District, 39 from the Ratnapura and the Puttalam Districts and 154 from other districts, the NOCPCO said.

The cases from the Minuwangoda and the Peliyagoda Fish Market clusters increased to 75,910, and of them, 72,062 had been discharged.

PCRs have been conducted on 15,892 persons on Saturday.

Hospitals have discharged 890 persons on Saturday.

The recoveries have risen to 73,455 by yesterday morning. About 5,589 patients have been under treatments while 9,486 are on quarantine at 96 centres under the Tri-Forces, the NOCPCO said.

The country reported 435 COVID deaths so far including the two deaths on Saturday.
