Police to receive 2,000 trishaws

The Cabinet approved a proposal by Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekara to buy 2000 three-wheelers for the Police, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Plantation Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said.

He was speaking at the Cabinet media briefing yesterday at the Government Information Department.

Minister Pathirana said that the decision to buy three wheelers had been made to resolve the shortage of vehicles at the Police. He said that the Police is the main institute that is responsible for enforcing law and keeping peace throughout the island. But it does not have an adequate number of vehicles to perform its duties.
