A woman along with her 3-year-old child had jumped into a well after an altercation with her husband, in Badullagammana, Bibile yesterday.
The deceased have been identified as Binikonara Mudiyanselage Nadeeka Priyadarshani, 24, and her daughter, Nethsa Dewmini. Her husband was a soldier. She had been living with her parents-in-law. She had engaged in an argument with her husband over the phone on Monday night, police said.
Her farther-in-law later had seen the child’s body in the well.
Bibile police dispatched the bodies to the Moneragala District Hospital for post mortem and PCR tests yesterday morning.
Investigations are continuing.
