The Department for Registration of Persons will be open tomorrow to issue National Identity Cards (NIC) for candidates facing the Ordinary Level Examination,
The Head Office of the Department in Battaramulla and the regional offices of Galle, Kurunegala, Vavuniya, and Batticaloa will remain open (from 8.30 am to 1.00 pm) despite it being a public holiday, said the Commissioner General V. Gunatilaka.
This special service will be provided only for the students who sit for the O/L exam this year and the candidates are requested to submit their duly completed applications, get them approved by the respective School Principal or Grama Niladari.

School candidates who sit for the O/L. Exam- 2020 from March 1 - 10 can get their National Identity Cards today (26) from the Head Office of the Registration of Persons Department and its regional offices in Kurunegala, Galle and Vauniya from 8.30 to 2.30 p.m. .
The students should bring a Letter of Authority from their school principals or the Grama Niladharis when they come to collect their NICs today.
Commissioner General of Registration of Persons Viyani Gunathilake told the media that NICs will be issued in this way to ease the students’ mentality at exam centres.
