Suspect from abroad arrested after quarantine

Galle Police arrested a suspect who had returned to Sri Lanka after six years soon after the compulsory quarantine period.

The suspect, Mohammad Tawfiq Mohammad Papawan had evaded court and gone abroad while the cases against him were being heard in the Maligakanda and Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Courts.

The Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court and the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court had ordered that the accused be arrested on his return and produced before court.

When he returned to Sri Lanka from Dubai on February 12 after six years, he was sent to the Gintota Amari Hotel for quarantine and arrested after a two-week quarantine. The suspect has been arrested by Galle Police Crime Investigation Branch OIC IP D.G.Ananda and Sub Inspector Mahilal. He will be produced before the Galle Magistrate’s Court.
