82,889 confirmed COVID-19 positive, 76,979 recover and return home

The National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) said 460 COVID-19 patients were detected as of yesterday morning.

The highest number of infected cases has been reported from the Ratnapura district and the number is 62. In addition, 59 cases have been reported from the Jaffna district, 51 cases from the Gampaha district and 35 overseas arrivals also tested positive for the virus yesterday while 253 cases were detected from other districts.

The total number of COVID-19 infected persons reported from the clusters connected to the Minuwangoda Garment Factory and the Colombo Fish Market as of yesterday (28) morning was 79,244.

Accordingly, 76,185 were from the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster. Meanwhile, 76,979 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals.

Up to yesterday, a total of 82,889 persons have been confirmed COVID-19 positive from all over the country. 78,372 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients have been so far discharged from hospitals and the rest 4,053 are still under treatment in hospitals and care centers. 748 people have been discharged from hospitals and intermediate treatment centers as of yesterday. A total of 9,667 persons were undergoing quarantine at 96 centers under the Tri-Forces as at yesterday. With in Saturday 12, 632 PCR tests were carried out, NOCPC further said.
