Achira Senanayake a promising volleyball star

Dhammissara National School Nattandiya were the All Island Dialog Volleyball Champions 2018. Sri Lanka Schools under 23 volleyball player and coloursman Achira Hettiarachchi Senanayake has brought honour and fame to his Alma Mater Dhammissara National School Nattandiya. He was admitted to Grade One of this school in 2003 when R. K. W. Gunawardene was the Principal and his first class teacher was Mrs. Sujatha.

In 2012 he attended Volleyball practices and his coach was Channa Jayasekera. In the year 2013 their school won the Divisional, Zonal, District Tournaments and in the same year in the National Tournaments they were the runners up and in 2014 they won the Lower Tournaments and their school were the runners up of the All Island DSI Schools Tournament and in 2016 their under 16 team achieved the same result at the Lower Grade and in the DSI Tournament they were second.

Then in 2019 representing the under 23 age group they came third in the Dialog Volleyball Tournament and in the following year he captained the under 23 team and won the Dialog Trophy and he was awarded School Volleyball Colours. In 2018 their school won the All Island National Schools Volleyball Championship and once again he was awarded colours In 2019 too they won the DIalog Trophy and he captained the team . In 2018 they won the Munchee Trophy and in the same year they won the Rupavahini Gold Challenge Trophy and he was awarded the Best Lockers Award.

The school team was rewarded with a tour to Malaysia and with all these performances under his belt he was selected for the tour of Myanmar and 16 teams participated and Sri Lanka Team came up to Super Eight. In 2019 they were the Dialog Champions and he won school colours

In 2019 he was selected to the Sabaragamuwa University and representing them in the All Island Inter University Volleyball Tournament they were the All Island Champions and he received University Volleyball Colours and in the Sri Lanka Beach Volleyball Tournament they were the champions.
