Free vocational, linguistic courses in Matara District

The Matara Samadhi Community Development Foundation (MSCDF) has initiated free vocational and linguistic training programmes for unemployed young men, women, school leavers and job aspirants in the Matara District.

According to Foundation sources, these courses include IT, English, Tamil and Korean Language training, screen printing, bag and shoe manufacturing and electrical training.

“The duration of these courses is six months and the age limit is between 18 and 35. This will not apply to those who have already been enrolled for training on a special concessionary basis. These courses will be conducted at MSCDF training centres in Matara, Welipitiya, Kamburupitiya, Akuressa, Morawaka, Urubokka, Deniyaya, Malimbada and Dickwella towns in the Matara District. The National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) recognised certificates will be awarded to those who complete these courses successfully,” a senior MSCDF spokesman said.

All these courses, which will be held free of charge, will be commenced in May this year.
