A felled tree.
Nearly 20 trees at the Marawila Mudukatuwa Sumanadhamma Government College have been felled during the last two days, residents of the area said. Jack, Coconut, Kohlrabi, Mango, Cotton and Halmilla trees have been felled, they said.
The College Principal said that permission had been obtained in this regard, but the Letter of Permission was missing.
Chilaw Zonal Director of Education Sadda Mangala Subhasinghe said that he will look into the matter.
A tree felling is being carried out at schools in the Chilaw Education Zone now and a few months ago, over 30 trees have been felled at a college in Mahagama, the residents said.
