The Cabinet of Ministers has approved to purchase six Million doses of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V. The proposal was made by the Health Minister.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal made by Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi to purchase another six million doses of the ‘Sputnik V’ COVID-19 vaccine, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held yesterday, Minister Rambukwella said Cabinet previously approved the purchase of seven million doses of the Russian ‘Sputnik V’ vaccine at 9.95 US dollars per dose and a total cost of 69.65 million US dollars.
This was upon the recommendation of the Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee. At this week’s Cabinet meeting, Ministers approved to purchase additional six million doses of vaccine at the same price.
