CEB workers get 25% pay hike

A Collective Agreement has been signed to raise the salaries of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) employees by 25 percent, CEB Chairman Eng. Vijitha Herath said. This proposal has been sent to the cabinet for approval and all other rights of the workers will also be granted, Herath said.

The CEB workers’ unions had demanded a 36 percent pay hike, but the management has decided on a compromise of 25 percent.

“It is a great victory for the CEB that we could do this even amidst the present COVID-19 situation,” he added. Nevertheless, any trade union that does not agree with the above pay hike can launch TU action,” he noted.
