Puttalam district sees surge in COVID cases

The Puttalam district has reported 114 COVID-19 patients in the last two weeks.

Puttalam District Deputy Health Services Director Dr.Dinusha Fernando said the main reason for this is that people have not adhered to health guidelines during the Festive Season.

In addition to this, the spread of COVID-19 in two garment factories in the adjoining Kurunegala District has also contributed to aggravate the situation.

Meanwhile 27 COVID-19 patients have been found from the Nattandiya Medical Officer of Health Division.

In addition, 25 cases have been reported from Dankotuwa, 13 from Kalpitiya and 11 from Wennappuwa, officials said.
