The Police yesterday said that the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were on the lookout for the local agent of the X-Press Pearl container ship to arrest him.
The Attorney General has advised the CID to arrest and produce him before Court.
Meanwhile, the Colombo High Court on Monday ordered to release the Captain of the X-Press Pearl container ship, a Russian national, on a personal bond of Rs. 2 million. A travel ban has been imposed on him. Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the CID had recorded 33 statements with regard to the incident and more statements were to be recorded from the local agent and other officers. He also said that the Government Analyst’s Department was inspecting the Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) of the ship. The Government Analyst’s Department has also sought the assistance of the parent company that had manufactured the ‘Black Box’ for investigations.
