Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today inaugurated the “Guru Abhimani” National Programme where a monthly allowance of Rs. 2500 will be given to pre-school teachers.
Education Minister Prof. GL Peiris and State Minister of Women and Child Development, Pre-School and Primary Education, School Infrastructure and Education Services Piyal Nishantha presented the National Policy on Early Childhood Education to the Prime Minister at the event held at temple trees.
The Prime Minister also symbolically inaugurated the provision of Rs. 2.5 million for the construction of Saubhagya Pre-School to be established in every Grama Niladhari Division of the country and the provision of Rs. 600,000 for the infrastructure development of 1500 pre-schools under the Government’s vision for a prosperous nation.
