Subasinghe confident of winning a medal in Tokyo

Sri Lankan Para Athlete Maduranga Subasinghe is confident of winning a medal when he competes in the Men’s 400m T47 event at the 16th Tokyo Paralympics in Japan tomorrow commencing at 7.10 a.m. (Sri Lanka time).

The final of this event is scheduled to take place on the following day commencing at 5.30 p.m. (Sri Lanka time).

Subasinghe’s Coach Sajith Jayalal is optimistic that his athlete will perform well in this event after having completed a series of good preparations.

The coach also believes that Subabsinghe will be able to produce his personal best at the Tokyo Games.

Subasinghe finished fourth at the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018. His last international event was the World Para Athletic Grand Prix in Dubai last February.

Subasinghe did his best to win the Silver Medal with a performance of 50.54s.

“When I started my training with coach Jayalal, I was able to develop my skills to reach international level. He realised my talents and gave all his guidance to reach this standard,” Subasinghe told the Daily News yesterday.
