Harsha questions vaccine distribution rationale

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr Harsha de Silva yesterday questioned as to who made the decision to administer the Pfizer vaccine to the 20-30 year category in the Hambantota District. “Is Hambantota 20-30 year category top priority for Pfizer vaccine today? A Health Ministry directive says 50,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine were given to the Army for this purpose. Is this a scientific selection? What about the students sitting for the Advanced Level Examination in November?,” he asked. As the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has said, only the Pfizer vaccine is recommended for kids over age 12. Schools cannot reopen without giving the jab to the students. At least kids sitting for November exams should be given priority. Hambantota residents can get any brand,” the MP said in a Tweet. Meanwhile, a Government spokesman said that vaccines are allocated to various areas and age groups by the Health Ministry
