Thisara Jayanga Peiris an outstanding cricketer

Thisara Jayanga

Fifteen year old right hand top order batsman, and wicket keeper Bamanahannadige Thisara Jayanga has brought honour and fame for Methodist High School Puwakaramba (formerly Moratumulla) he was born on 24th January 2006 and admitted to the Grade One of this school in 2012 . In 2017 his parents Laksiri Jayantha Peiris and Nayana Caldera noticing his keenness and interest to cricket they handed over their son to the school under 13 cricket coach Mr. Buddhika and Thisara was taken to the under 13 division three cricket pool.

In his first year in the under 13 he surpassed the 200 run mark and had 14 victims behind the stumps and in his second year in under 13 he passed the 300 run mark with two half centuries and claimed 23 victims behind the stumps and Methodians clinched the All Island under 13 Division Three Singer Championship. Then in his third year he scored 640 runs with two centuries with a top score of 158 runs against formidable and more fancied Ananda College Colombo and it was a record for his Alma Mater and collected another two fifties and had 27 victims behind the stumps and could not go further due to the Covid Epidemic in 2020. His coaches were Mr. Anuruddha and Mr. Samith.

As a thirteen year old player he played in their Big Match against their arch rivals Shasthrananda Vidyalaya in 2019 and he kept wickets and his coaches were Mr. Anurudhdha and Mr. Samith.

In 2020 he represented Old Moratu Vidyalians Sports Club in Division Three Daily News Trophy and scored 180 runs with two fifties. His Master in Charge is Mr. Roshan and the Principal. Lilanthi Perera is always encouraging and supporting them
