Police deployed near the Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil, Jaffna to prevent devotees from breaking Quarantine Curfew.

The Police on Sunday prevented a large group of devotees from entering the Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil, Jaffna to organise the annual Chariot Festival of the Kovil.

The devotees had tried to enter the Kovil, violating the current Quarantine Curfew. A team of about 300 Police officers had been deployed to prevent the gathering.

Due to this the festival at the Nallur Kovil was limited to a Pooja conducted by the Kurukkals without the participation of devotees.

When a large number of people came to attend the Kovil ceremony, the Police warned them, but when they tried to enter the temple without heeding health guidelines, the Police were compelled to use buses and roadblocks to cover all the entrances to the Kovil.
