Rear Admiral Marcus Perera retired from Naval service yesterday after his distinguished career in the Navy spanning over 35 years.

The outgoing Senior Officer, who is celebrated his 55th birthday yesterday, received warm wishes from the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and the Board of Management before he was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with Naval traditions. Fellow Naval Officers, thereafter, made their formal farewells to the Senior Officer before he took leave from the Navy Headquarters in a motorcade.

Rear Admiral Marcus Perera joined the Navy in 1986 and rendered a prominent service to the organisation. He held key appointments such as Captain Logistics Department North, Deputy Director Naval (Pay), Deputy Director Naval (Pay and Pension), Captain Logistics Department West and Northwest, Director Integrated Logistics Management System, Director Naval Foreign Procurement, Director Naval Logistics, Director Logistics of Civil Security Department and Director General Logistics during his career.
