Sri Lanka will recommence participating at global travel and tourism fairs – Minister Prasanna

Sri Lanka will recommence participating at international trade fairs for travel and tourism under the tourism promotional campaigns from this September to promote and position the island as the perfect destination for post-COVID travel to attract foreign exchange to the country. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) is participating now in the ‘OTDYKH LEISURE’ travel and tourism trade fair in Moscow, Russia after one year of suspension of representing the country in such trade fairs due to pandemic.

Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that the SLTDA has decided to represent Sri Lanka once again at such trade fairs after the country was reopened for the international tourism.

“We will participate at the Ukraine fair and at similar fairs in France, the UK and Germany subsequently," he added.

The ‘OTDYKH LEISURE’ is being held for the 27th consecutive year with the participation of around 500 representatives from travel and tourism agencies in 21 countries.

Representatives from 15 local travel and tourism companies participate in the trade fair. The Sri Lankan trade stall was opened by Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga during his official visit to Russia.
