COVID mother gives birth to triplets

A 27-year old COVID infected woman gave birth to triplets at the De Soysa Maternity Hospital, Hospital sources said. According to the sources, a cesarean operation was carried out on the mother and both the mother and the three baby girls were said to be in good health.

As per Health Ministry statistics around 4,200 pregnant mothers have been infected with COVID-19 so far in Sri Lanka and 900 of them are still receiving treatment.The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 in Sri Lanka crossed the 400,000 mark yesterday. According to the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, the total number of coronavirus recoveries reported in the country increased to 408,116. The total number of COVID positive cases detected from the country reached 474,780 and 56,000 of them are still under medical care.

The country confirmed more COVID-19 related fatalities on Wednesday raising the death toll from the viral disease to 10,689.
