‘Organic Fertilizer production expedited through Divisional Secretariats’

The organic fertilizer production programme has been expedited through the Divisional Secretariats to provide non-toxic foods under the President's National Programme, Kalmunai Divisional Secretary J. Liyakath Ali said.

Samurdhi Arunalu Livelihood Development Project commenced at Maruthamunai yesterday under the patronage of Maruthamunai-Natpiddimunai Samurdhi Bank Manager M.M.M Mubeen, the Divisional Secretary said,

The Government is focusing more on the well-being of the public. “Therefore, millions of rupees have been spent on this programme. Subsidies worth of Rs. 5 lakhs will be provided with those involved in producing organic fertilizer. In addition, they will be provided with necessary know-how,” he said.

“Samurdhi beneficiaries should become partners in the national programme of organic compost production. Non-toxic food production should be promoted in every household in the future,” he said.

Coconut plants and fruit seeds have been distributed among selected beneficiaries during the event and instructions were given on the use of organic compost. Samurdhi Headquarters Manager A.R.M. Shalih, Project Planning Manager A.M.S Nayeema, Manager S.S Fareera and Samurdhi Officers participated.
