Instead of Social Distancing, Let’s call it Virtual Connecting

The next big epoch

Connect CS 1.0 was one cosmic initiative brought to life by AIESEC at the University of Moratuwa with the goal of developing the functional knowledge and personal and professional skills of AIESECers while giving them an opportunity to embrace cultural diversity. Kick-starting the event under the theme “Interstellar”, the event brought AIESECers across nations and cultures to one shared screen on a virtual dimension.

In addition to AIESECers of the University of Moratuwa, AIESECers from the four initiative groups, General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka Technological Campus together with AIESECers across the globe participated in this extraterrestrial adventure as they discovered their inner potential through the intergalactic Connect CS virtual conference. To reach a new world, you first need to travel through the stars.

Industry experts

Several pre-build up sessions were conducted prior to the conference with sessions delivered by industry experts of reputable organizations who were the partners of Connect CS 1.0. The sessions were geared towards the provision of a career opportunity space and several professional development sessions to well-equip the attendees with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the dynamic corporate world.

As the wise American author Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much” perfectly encapsulates the tremendous support given by the corporate partners: Creative Software (Platinum partner), London Stock Exchange Group, Sri Lanka (Gold Partner), Citrus Leisure PLC (Hospitality Partner), Hotel Ramrich (Official Logistics Partner), Nestle Lanka PLC (Event Partner), Icon Business School (Event Partner), Gapstars (Event Partner), Axiata Digital Labs (Event Partner), Orel Corporation (Event Partner), Wiley Global (Knowledge Partner), Fonterra Brands Lanka (Knowledge Partner), Daily News (Public Relations Partner) and The Maple Leaf (Official Photography Partner) without whom Connect CS 1.0 would not have been able to deliver the outer-space experience to the attendees of the conference.

Spanning over two days, the stars finally aligned for Connect CS on August 14 and went on till August 15 where the virtual conference was held with delegates across the globe. With sessions delivering the AIESEC culture and AIESEC experience to delegates, the conference nonetheless included fun-filled team bonding sessions to liven up the moods of the delegates by transporting them to another galaxy of entertainment where they got the opportunity to connect, share and learn with other delegates across cities, lands and seas.

Tremendous opportunity

Global Village with Creative Software was one of the highlights of the conference where the delegates got the tremendous opportunity to connect with AIESECers around the world to share their cultures and traditions.

The final day consisted of the award ceremony of CSLx where the best performers of the event and the overall CSLx 2.0 winners were recognized, awarded and appreciated for their youthful talent.

They say that music in the soul can be heard by the universe. Connect CS 1.0 reached its conclusion with a celestial music night of cosmic singing, Acoustaza with Citrus, featuring Channuka Devnindu and Hemashi Vithana who lit the night with nebulous stars with astronomic performance.

Connect CS 1.0 planted the star seeds for AIESEC at the University of Moratuwa to reach greater heights in future through the valuable experience and knowledge it delivered to all delegates who participated. With that, the Connect CS 1.0 space shuttle reached the end of its virtual space adventure giving all its delegates a striking set of memories that won’t ever disconnect.
