IGP requests DGHS to allow bookstores to remain open

Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne requests the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) to allow bookstores to remain open in compliance with the health guidelines imposed by the Government during the travel restriction period and under the supervision of Public Health Inspectors.

The IGP has made this request following a written request made by the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association Samantha Indeewara Samarasinghe.

The Book Publishers’ Association points out that the book publishing industry is facing a tragic situation as bookstores have had to close from time to time due to periodic closures in the country for a year and a half.
