Navy nab suspect with 1,064 kg of dried turmeric

The Navy seized 1,064 kg of smuggled dried turmeric from a fishing hut during a special operation at the Norochcholai beach and nabbed a suspect on Monday.

The SLNS Thambapanni in the Northwestern Naval Command carried out the operation. The stock of dried turmeric was in 32 sacks.

The 22-year-old suspect is a resident of Narakkalliya, Norochcholai. He was handed over to the Norochcholai Police along with the stock of dried turmeric.
