Security of former CAA official assured

The Government yesterday assured that adequate security has been provided to Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) former Executive Director Thushan Gunawardena.

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said he was informed by the Minister in charge of the subject Dr. Sarath Weerasekara that the house of the officer, who made the allegation of the garlic scam, is currently being monitored by cameras, and a police team has been deployed to ensure his personal security.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held yesterday at the Government Information Department, the Minister said there was no truth in the reports that there is a problem concerning security for the former official.
