Ethics System introduced for journalists completes 40 years

On October 14, 2021, 40 years will be completed for the Ethics System introduced for journalists.

The Sri Lanka Press Council introduced this system on October 14, 1981.

A conference has been organised by the Sri Lanka Press Council to commemorate this, while following health regulations, under the patronage of Minister of Mass Media Dulles Alahapperuma. It will be held at the Government Information Department auditorium at 4.00 pm on October 14, 2021.

In conjunction with this function, the official website of the Sri Lanka Press Council www.slpc.lk will be launched with a new face and a commemorative stamp and first day cover will also be issued. Senior journalists Victor Ivan and Ariyananda Dombagahawatte will deliver speeches on “the importance of safeguarding mass media ethics in building a good society” and “the Sri Lanka Press Council and its ethics.”

Students engaged in studying communication, teachers of communication, university scholars and journalists are due to participate in this event via Zoom technology, online.
