Shevon Daniel struck an unbeaten 85 as Sri Lanka Under-19 scored a series clinching three-wicket victory over the touring Bangladesh Under-19 in the third Youth One Day International (ODI) played at the Dambulla Stadium yesterday.

The 17-year-old left-hander played the sheet anchor role as Sri Lanka Under-19 overtook their opponents’ total of 184 with three wickets and three overs to spare.

The number three batsman hoisted one six and struck seven boundaries and was associated in a third wicket stand of 75 with Pawan Pathiraja.

However, it was his unfinished eighth wicket stand of 66 runs with Wanuja Sahan that really sealed the contest in Sri Lanka’s favour.

Earlier, Bangladesh Under-19 recovered from 71 for seven to post a modest 184 mainly due to a fighting unbeaten half-century from Ashikur Zaman.
