The “Vistas of Prosperity and Splendor” National Policy Framework put forward by the President affirms that, in order to produce a healthy and productive citizenry, the government must ensure the right of the people to access a non-toxic and balanced diet.
To achieve this objective the government has taken measures to ensure that only organic fertilizer would be used in the agriculture sector in the country in the future.
In line with this vision of the government, on the instructions the Commander, the Sri Lanka Air Force Organic Fertilizer Production Project was declared open by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana on Friday at the SLAF Regiment Training School in Vanni.
This project which is conducted directly under the supervision of the Commander Agro Unit of the SLAF plans to produce 25 tons of organic fertilizer initially.
The fertilizer produced by this project will be utilized for Agricultural projects within the SLAF and will be also made available for the farming community in Sri Lanka through the Ministry of Agriculture.
The event was attended by the Command Agro Officer, the Commanding Officer of the SLAF Regiment Training School in Vanni, Officers and Other Ranks.
The event was held in accordance with health guidelines in order to prevent the spreading of COVID-19.
