Dubai: Buoyed on by a steady increase in tourist arrivals, destination Sri Lanka with confidence presents the country’s Tourism offer, in full force, at the EXPO 2020 Dubai on ‘Sri Lanka Day’ today Monday, January 3 at 9 PM local time.
“Sri Lanka is seeing a steady revival of visitor arrivals due to a very successful vaccination programme. Highly commended by the World Health Organization (WHO) operating on Health Guidelines formulated by experts, Sri Lanka has seen a steady decline in COVID-19 infections, with over 85% of the eligible population from Sri Lanka’s 21.9 million being vaccinated, and the administering of booster Pfizer vaccines well underway with travel industry persons given priority”s said Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.

Applauded by the World Travel and Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and World Travel & Tourism Council with the awarding of the ‘Safe Travel Stamp’, Sri Lanka has recovered post-pandemic with confidence and is operating not in fits and starts but smoothly.
Today Sri Lanka Day at EXPO 2020 Dubai is attended by a high-level delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, G. L. Peiris and Minister of Tourism and Aviation, Prasanna Ranatunga and will hold bilateral meetings focused on Tourism, Exports and Investments.
Chairperson Sri Lanka Tourism and Commissioner General for EXPO 2020 Dubai, Kimarli Fernando is expected to make a destination pitch highlighting Sri Lanka’s readiness for growth and revival of the Tourism industry post-pandemic.
Sri Lanka day will be a colourful, event-filled day of Cultural Performances staged at Al Wasl Plaza at the Stage of Nations.
Sri Lanka Tourism was also planning to host a Travel and Tourism Forum on 4th January 2022 with 40 Dubai based delegates, who will be present to attend B2B meetings, and the 35 strong Sri Lanka Travel and Tourism delegation coming to Dubai anticipating a bookings bonanza, because of the ongoing positive publicity the destination has received post-pandemic recovery.
However, due to the current C-19 restrictions in place in Dubai, the event will be postponed to a later date in March yet connecting the delegates through a virtual event to take place in early January 2022.
